MORE ABOUT QUEEN PEN

Lynise Walters, aka Queen Pen is a Brooklyn native, female rap artist, who earned a Grammy for Best R & B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1997 with producers Dr. Dre and Teddy Riley. Recently, Pen has decided to focus on developing at risk teens and speaking in juvenile prisons, group homes, inner city schools, and facilities for young mothers. She is also an accomplished author with two books, Situations and Blossom selling over 70,000 copies collectively with a third book on the way. She is currently adding dates for her book store tour, where she is reading passages out of her new book and discussing past work with fans and supporters. In 2008 she united with The Coalition of Family Justice to open Silent Cries, an organization to help battered women and children overcome domestic violence. A strong back-bone and courage has guided her back to music recording a new album coming in 2010 with some production by industry heavy weight Teddy Riley. Besides recording the remix to "Brooklyn" by MC Lyte and being featured in the video, Queen Pen also manages her son Nefu Da Don and Reggae artist Suave Luciano.

In the mist of all the hustle and bustle we call “daily survival” we try to hold on to true reality. The truth is that tomorrow is not promised to us. Not only our tomorrow, but the future of our children. We are so caught up in reality television, music downloads and internet entertainment, that those things that are really important and relevant to us have slipped away from our priority list. It seems, that some of us have dug our own graves and have one foot in and the other out.

We the people have so much control and obviously no awareness of this control. For example, something like basic politics 101, we don’t make the grade. The disrespectful stunt pulled by the GOP this past week in Albany has not moved the average New Yorker, as much as our favorite reality star being cut from our favorite show. How shameful is that? With such a long list of complaints under our belt we seem to shy away from taking part in solutions.

A brief breakdown on what having the Majority means my people? Okay, this means us (Democrates) having control, we have more Senators(Democrates) sitting in senate seats then Republicans. By losing the Majority, or shall I rephrase that, having the majority taken away from us means that all of the resources that were due to support our communities will no longer exist. The issues that the average person deals with on a regular basis are addressed and fought by our Democratic Senate. These are the people we elect to fight our battles. Battles that honestly can not be fought by Republicians because their issues and worries differ drastically from ours. Now let’s ask ourselves, are there more millionaires in the world or people in our state struggling just to get by. Exactly! This should tell you who is doing what for who when they have control. I think its also safe to say that the GOP operates with a true gangster mentality. Another question we the people need to be concerned with is, who took part in financing this coup? It’s obvious our interest and needs are not important to these people.

Which brings me to not only my domestic violence legislation but my countinous fight for the victims and their children who will not be respected by the GOP if they gain the Majority. Why some of you may ask? and to keep it as real as I can, because they just don’t care and are not passionate about this issue. Programming in our communities to support the needy will never see the light of day for this same reason.

So let’s put in our prayers and pay more attention to what is going on around us. Cause we have a rocky road ahead..

Yours Truly,
QP
